Here's just a small sampling of the projects I've worked on over the last few years.

TRAVEL EXPEDITIONS

One of the best projects I’ve ever worked on was creating video content for National Geographic Expeditions, the travel division at National Geographic. I was their main content creator for years, going out on trips and I would produce, shoot, edit (basically one-man bandit) everything for their digital marketing campaigns and program promotions. I got to travel all around the world, and even join workshop expeditions for National Geographic Student Expeditions.

Nat Geo Student Expeditions "Perfect Life"

I co-produced and edited this promo for National Geographic Student Expeditions that won a Telly for online travel videos. We got Moby to let us use his music for the piece, which we were all excited about.

Nat Geo Tanzania

Joined a dream wildlife safari in Tanzania on a National Geographic Expedition. I was lucky enough to tag along and see the Great Migration and visit local Maasai villagers and ended up filming and editing this video for the trip. I love wildlife and this was a fantastic way to film all these majestic animals close up.

Nat Geo Japan

Spent an amazing cultural adventure hiking the Kumano Kodo trail in Japan with a great group of travelers on a Nat Geo Adventures trip, stopping along the way to participate in traditional tea ceremonies and explore temples.

Nat Geo Expeditions Yellowstone

I joined an amazing group during a National Geographic Family Expedition to the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks. This was a great adventure and so much fun traveling with young adventurers!

Nat Geo Student Expedition Thailand

Joined an amazing group of high school students in Thailand doing community service on a National Geographic Student Expedition. They taught English to young Thai students and monks and I filmed and edited this video for the trip. What an inspiring group of young adults immersing themselves in another culture.

Nat Geo Patagonia

Another amazing National Geographic Expeditions trip to Patagonia, traveling to the southern most point of land before hitting Antarctica. Other-worldly, these landscapes that make up Argentina and Chile are amazing.

Nat Geo Cuba

Joined a very flavorful and colorful National Geographic Expeditions trip to Cuba. The country was in a moment of change as US travel restrictions have been lifted and tourist start to flock to its shores. I was lucky enough to tag along on a people-to-people cultural exchange as well as a photo workshop, experiencing the diverseness of this exciting island.

National Geographic Around the World

A quick overview of the National Geographic Expeditions "Around the World by Private Jet" trip that I was lucky enough to tag along and capture some amazing shots. The trip went to Peru, Easter Island, Samoa, Australia, Cambodia, China (Tibet), India, Tanzania, Jordan & Morocco.

Nat Geo Student Expedition Switzerland

Adventuring through the Alps with a group of amazing young photographers and film makers on this National Geographic Student Expedition in Switzerland and France! This was a great trip with so many rainbows it was ridiculous.

I spent a few days in Iceland with National Geographic Student Expeditions and shot and edited this piece for the program. Iceland is an amazing place and if you ever get the chance to explore it, it is well worth it.

STORYTELLING

Throughout my years of producing media, storytelling has always been at the heart of what I love. Whether it’s a short digital video or a promotion, even if it has a simple story, I find it satisfying. Here are a few random examples of media I’ve produced.

Nat Geo Photo Camp DC

I had an incredible experience working with the Nat Geo Photo Camp in DC, where we gave cameras to an under represented community and taught them how to tell their stories about being immigrants. I recorded the audio interviews and edited the final program while working with an amazing team of photo editors.

Elizabeth Krist, a former senior photo editor for National Geographic Magazine, discusses how she goes about curating photos for a Christie’s Auction.

Natural History Museum Unseen Connections

Promo created for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History exhibit Unseen Connections. I edited this piece and built all the animations in After Effects. This was a great team to work with and we had a blast shooting it.

Nat Geo Photo Camp Houston

I spent a week working with a group of high schoolers at a photo camp in Houston. We gave them a camera bootcamp to help tell their story of recovery after Hurricane Harvey. I created the audio portion of this piece while the photos were chosen by an incredible group of Nat Geo photo editors.

A group of National Geographic explorers and educators meet up in Denver to discuss how to collaborate as a unit.

Engineering Exploration Challenge

An educational challenge video for young students to engineer a new type of camera trap. I didn’t edit this one, but I did provide the voice over! Have a listen.

Natural History Museum Unseen Connections

MUSEUM EXIHIBITS

I joined the Nat Geo Exhibitions and Experiences team and became the lead media & interactive designer for the National Geographic Museum and Traveling Exhibitions. For years, I have been producing media for them, but now I’m also designing multimedia installations, digital and AR/VR interactives and unique public visitor experiences. I love museum and experience design and it allows storytelling in such an engaging way. Here are a few examples of exhibition design I’ve created.

Nat Geo Pristine Seas Media Wall

This was a large 6 panel media wall that I created for the National Geographic Pristine Seas museum exhibit. It was a 12 minute video that played on an seamless loop highlighting the major locations of the Pristine Seas grant missions. I created the map animations and edited them around the six monitors showing footage from each location. Marcus Manderson also wrote the music for this video & at the end you can see how the video was laid out in the exhibit.

Nat Geo PhotoArk Media Wall

This was a massive 6 screen media video that I edited for Joel Sartore's Photo Ark exhibit at National Geographic. We synced all 6 screens together and had each screen play off each other. Marcus Manderson wrote the music for the video and we really loved the finished piece. At the end of the video, it shows the size of the media wall and how the screens were placed in the exhibit.

SIZZLE REELS

Who doesn’t like a good sizzle reel. They are an editor’s anchor and here are a few for Nat Geo that I produced and edited.

National Geographic 125th Anniversary Sizzle Reel

This was a version of the Expeditions Council sizzle reel that was re-constructed for the 125th Anniversary promotion of National Geographic. They start out very similar, but end up being very different with new footage and sound bites. It took a while to re-edit, which was not an easy task.

After weeks of combing through footage and sound bites of National Geographic Explorers, I slapped together this sizzle reel promoting our Expeditions Council that gives these explorers grants. I received huge praise for the piece and it went on to be used for many different promotions in many different forms, including promotion of Nat Geo's 125th Anniversary.
